At 5 Star HVAC Contractors, we have provided Rowlett, TX, and the surrounding communities with 5-star heating and cooling services for over 20 years. While this brings us deep satisfaction, we also want to give back to the community in a way that feels real to us. That’s why we started the JV Project.
The Story Behind the JV Project
Some of the best parts of 5 Star HVAC started with a few ride-alongs between a father and son. What began as time together in the field turned into something much more meaningful — for them and for the people they served.
Back in the early days of 5 Star HVAC, when our founder was still out in the field doing service calls himself, his dad would occasionally come to town and ride along. It wasn’t long before this became something special. His dad would be up early, coffee brewed, eager to get out there and work again, despite being retired for years.
Customers noticed. They remembered him. And more importantly, he felt a sense of purpose again. It wasn’t about heavy lifting. It was about conversations, company, and being part of a team.
Eventually, even after our founder transitioned into the office, he kept sending his dad out on low-intensity days with one of the techs. The results were incredible. Not only for his dad, but for the technicians, too. They enjoyed the mentorship, the stories, and the camaraderie. It brought something extra to the job that no tool or training ever could. This uplifting series of events led to us creating the JV Project.
What Is the JV Project?
The JV Project (named after our founder’s dad—his initials and a nod to “Junior Varsity”) is our way of inviting members of our community to share a day with us.
Here’s how it works:
- Volunteers from the local community can sign up to spend a day riding along with one of our experienced HVAC technicians.
- These are light-duty days only. Think changing filters, washing outdoor units, and meeting friendly customers.
- We provide lunch and a chance to connect with the community.
- We focus on creating a sense of purpose and opportunities for conversation.
Whether you’re retired, semi-retired, or just someone looking to get out of the house and do something different, we’d love to have you with us for a day.
Safety First
We take your (and our team’s) safety very seriously. Before joining us in the field, every volunteer needs to fill out a brief form. This form allows us to understand each volunteer’s physical comfort level, mobility, and preferences.
No volunteer will be expected to lift, climb, or perform heavy-duty work. Still, this information is important for making each volunteer’s experience as comfortable as possible.
